The last long distance rally i did was 2 years ago when a few of us went to the Mutineers so it was time again to do another for myself and what a smashing rally it was.
I would like to start by saying a great big thanks to Andy, Big H, Yvonne and the rest of the crew for a fantastic weekend.
The weekend started for me at 06:00 on Friday when i was all loaded and then set off on my journey from down here. We aranged to meet at 08:00 at Wethereby Services and I made it bang on time where Dad, Darren, David, Rhiannon, Garry, Nic and Trained were waiting. A quick 10 minutes there and the 8 of us continued on our journey up to Gretna where we met Geordie Steve. We thought we were late but steve arrived just 5 minutes after us so we had some good discounted food and continued on our way. We arrived at the camp site in Denny at 13:30 which meant it was a 7 and 1/2 hr ride for me but it didn't feel so as the weather remained good.
Andy & Rose were already there with the stall so we said our hellos and then put the tents up. A welcome shot on the gate to warm your insides and then we decided to go for the Team Sober walk to the pub. Luckily it was short of 2 miles there so didn't take too long, We had a good drink in the Wheatsheaf after been informed what pubs to avoid and there were directed to the better chinese in the village which was enjoyed, then into a pub where prices change mid service 'that will be three pound six... eighty, and a can of coke cost £1.25.
After a few drinks we walked back to the site and spent the rest of the evening in the pub, listening to the band. Trained also presented a gift from our club to the Tartan Vandals, although nobody knew what he was saying as he was slightly worse for wear at this time. He also lost his boxers into the fire as he was told not to wear them under his kilt.
Satuday we all had a good laugh at breakfast with Ginger from Dambusters and some of Geordie Browns. Why we all bought breakfasts I don't know as we all ended up eating bits of each others. After that we got suited and booted and took a ride to Stirling Castle. Took a few photos and then enjoyed the roads. Got a bit messy and Dad, Garry & Nic went to Loch Lomand. David and Rhiannon got seperated but met the rest of us (Me, Daz, Trained & Geordie Steve) at Denny for some food and then a nice ride back by the reservoir although the roads were a bit small for the trike to keep up.
We took over the club house (room upstairs in the pub) when we returned to the site and had a fantastic day and night playing pool and having a laugh. Doom and Gloom (Daz & Gaz) started there black and yellow antics and getting carried away and stupid but laughable. We carried the party on downstairs and took part in stupid games involving coat hangers on nipples and ears but everyone seemed to be having a laugh.
Trained won best bike, I got furthes travelled male and David won a raffle prize which I never saw anyone move so quick to collect with his 'black & yellow ticket'. The next few hours the band did their second set which we all made fools of ourselves and danced the night away. I couldn't keep up with Rose's energy and head banging so left her to lead Daz n Gaz and had an earlyish night. This is when the rain started
Sunday we were up early and packed ready to go by 8. I put both sets of waterproof on ready for the journey. Had a nice cup of tea made for us on the gate and then set off on our way back at 8:30. We stopped twice on the way back just for fuel & some quick food at wetherby and I returned back down to camp at 14:30.
For those of you that din't come you missed a fantastic rally. We were made welcome from the start with our 'nip' and always saw people around to chat to and have a laugh. It is the people that make a rally and this was made. Great rally and well worth the ride up.
Thank you everyone
